Springfield has a homeless teen population that many are not seeing.

This special edition of “HTV Magazine,” titled “Homeless in the Heartland,” puts that issue front and center.

Anchored by Kelsey Williams, and reported by Savanna Steffen, this 33 minute program introduces viewers to homeless youth on the city’s streets, and those agencies and volunteers working to assist them.

The show first went online on March 23, 2013.  Shortly after, it was featured in a report on KY3 News, the local NBC affiliate in Springfield, MO.The program won First Place in the National Television Academy, Upper Midwest Chapter high school competition for overall newscast.  The award was announced on May 30, 2013.
